Health Certificate

The Health Certificate is a document required by the Puerto Rico Department of Health for employees in industries such as food service, healthcare, education, and other sectors where public health could be affected. It certifies that the employee does not have communicable diseases that could pose a risk in their work environment.

How do you obtain the Health Certificate?

The process generally requires two visits:

• Visit 1: Medical evaluation, VDRL blood test (syphilis), and PPD test (tuberculin for tuberculosis).
• Visit 2 (48-72 hours later): Reading of the PPD test reaction by a healthcare professional.

If all results are negative, the Health Certificate is issued.
